Description: - Perennial. Stem 25 - 27 cm × (3-) 5 - 8 mm, simple, vigorous, yellowish- to reddish-brownish, sometimes tinged with violet, reddish-brownish glandular. Leaves numerously, dense and imbricate at base of the stem, sparse above, often under the spike absent, anguste lanceolate, 12 - 26 (-30) mm, dense glandulary lanate. Bracts ovate and longe acuminate to ovate-lanceolate, similar to leaves, numerous veined, to 25 mm, dark and dense glandular hairy, equalling or shorter (sometimes longer) than flowers. Inflorescences 6 - 15 × 3 - 3,5 cm, with numerous flowers, ± dense, often lax below, often comose at apex. Calyx 12 - 15 mm, segments brodly ovate at base, unequally bidentate or entire, 5- to 8-veined, teeth shortly triangular, diverge, dark glandulary, 3-veined at base, 1-veined above, middle vein distinctly, equalling the half of corolla to subequalling the corolla tube. Corolla (15-) 20 (-23) mm, erect, pale tawny yellow with purplish veins, densely covered with short, dark purple glandular hairs (especially to the edge); tube broadly cylindrical-campanulate, 6 - 9 mm wide, evenly curved or almost straight in lower 2/3; upper lip slightly emarginate, lobes antrorse; lobes of the lower lip equally or the middle bigger, crenate to almost entire, usually glandular-ciliate. Filaments inserted c. 2 mm from base of corolla tube, shortly hairy at base and in the lower 1/3, above (sub-) glabrous. Anthers brownish in dryness, lanceolate-ovate, whitish pungent. Stigma large, bilobed, yellow to orange-brownish. Style short, glandular hairy. Capsule shortly hairy, c. 9 mm (or more).
