Description: - Parasitic perennial herbs 15-25 cm high, yellow throughout. Underground stems thickened, simple or several branched, clothed with scale-like leaves. Aerial stems terete, densely pubescent. Leaves ovate or oblong-ovate, obtuse to acute, involute, 15-18 mm long, 7-12 mm wide, pubescent outside. Flowers twice each year, March to April and September to October. Inflorescence a terminal spike, 3-15 cm long, 3-4 cm across, densely many-flowered. Bracts scale-like, oblong-ovate, acute, 1.5-2 cm long, pubescent outside. Calyx lobes 2, lateral, oblong-ovate, bilobed, 15-18 mm long, 5-6 mm wide, segments linear-lanceolate, acuminate, pilose on margin. Corolla yellow, bilabiate, 2-2.5 cm long, pubescent outside, tube 15-18 mm long, 7-8 mm across, more or less ampliate, slightly incurved, upper lip widely ovate, involved, 5-6 mm long, shallowly bilobed, lower lip 3-4 mm long, deeply 3-lobed, lobes linear, obtuse. Stamens 4, 15-20 mm long, slightly exserted, glabrous, anthers ovate, ca. 2 mm long. Style filiform, 20-25 mm long, stigma shallowly bilobed, capitate.
